The only way your local council will know where the points were scored was if you sent a copy of your PIP award (which is needed as proof of automatically qualifying anyway) they don't have any access to any details from DWP for this.

I know when my Mrs was assessed. She was asked if she had a BB. Which we had at that time already. So I wonder if they inform your local council to get one issued, if you do not have one. Although some local councils do have more lenient rules than the DWP for BB's.
But if they receive the details of the PIP assessment & it does not meet their criteria they might not renew.

DWP do not contact any Local councils regarding any BB entitlement. DWP do not have any rules for any BB because a local council isn't anything to do with DWP. The automatic entitlement is standard across all councils in England, as previously advised. Outside of that then they have their own rules.

I've had a BB since 2013 from automatic entitlement and lived in England the whole time and the rules have never changed. They added the following and planning a journey rules in 2019.

So just to be clear if you qualify for a BB under PIP. You have to contact your local council. It is not started as part of the PIP process.

Yes, that's correct. You apply online here. https://www.gov.uk/apply-blue-badge then you will need to send your PIP award decision letter in as proof that you automatically qualify.

Not sure why you thought an application for a BB is started as part of the PIP process because they are 2 completely different things.
