I’ve been locked to VM for 20yrs, I now want to change as they’re too expensive and won’t cut a deal like a new customer. I’m lock to a VM email address.
how do I get out of this, do I set up a ‘gmail’ and tell everyone my new address?
what about banks home insurance and other companies etc etc do I just go they’re websites and change my email through settings? Or is it more complicated than this

Set up a Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook account and set it to pull in emails from Virgin which will be fine until your VM account closes. Give everybody your new address in the normal way.You need to change your contact email address with various websites. Some require it to log in, some just use it as a contact email. Case by case basis, you know who the companies are you're with.BTW you were never "locked" into a Virgin email address, never anything to stop you using a Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook account at any point in the last 20 years (17 for Gmail, as it didn't launch until 2004).0

Hi
A new email address, gmail or GMX.co.uk for instance.
Forward all emails to the new address also.
NB: my ntlworld.com account still seems to work.
I set it forward, and then delete everything, to my gmail box.
Bite the Bullet and have a new OpenReach install done/arranged, prior to giving notice with VM.
I did have both running for a few days during the April 2020 lockdown.
STATE quite plainly even loudly, that you want to port your number, to the new ISP and to VM so both know.Forum, Agin 'em or Just Neutral?0
