Faulty ovens

The oven I got with my new kitchen developed a fault. Engineer came out twice and 'fixed it' but it happened again. Oven was replaced with a new one. New one develops fault, engineer comes out and 'fixes it' but still isn't working. I tell the company I do not want the same oven again but I'm told if I want to 'upgrade' I would have to pay the difference. I asked which oven was the same price as the old one so I go with that. They have just came and fitted the SAME OVEN AGAIN. When I called them they said the one I chose is the same, its just a code change and is the exact same oven anyway. How many faulty ovens do I have to go through before they will change it for a different one that isn't going to cost me money??

You're almost certainly not entitled to an upgrade without spending more money and nor can you force them to fit an alternative model. You rights depend on a number of things, including the dates involved and whether this is a warranty claim with the manufacturer or a consumer rights claim with the retailer, for example.0

The original oven was fitted in October. The second one in February and the 3rd one today. I'm going through the retailer as opposed to the manufacturer warranty.
I actually said I didn't want to pay for an upgrade but a different oven of the same value. The one I chose, I was told was the 'new version' of the one I've had (with a different code). The one they fitted today was the old code. Now I'm told the new code isn't available yet but its exactly the same oven anyway!!0 -
Is it the same fault each time? If it is, are you sure it's not a problem with the way it's been installed?
You can't force them to replace with an alternative model. They should be repairing, replacing or refunding and ultimately you could ask for a refund and go elsewhere.1 -
yes its the same fault! I mean it could be the way its installed but surely that's up to the engineer to figure out. If this one goes faulty again I think I'll just be asking for a refund. I don't mind paying a bit extra but not to them.0

What is the fault that keeps recurring?

Every now and again the child lock turns on in the middle of cooking. The word 'stop' appears on the display and the oven switches off. I then have to reset it all to get it back on again. The engineer tried to say it must have been set via the timer - which is impossible to do. He then said it was the lack of ventilation at the back. he basically hasn't a clue.0

On some ovens, you can disable the feature entirely if you know you don't need it.1

I'm assuming its the childlock as that is the only time the word 'stop' should show on the display. I don't see a way to disable it.0

Anything in the manual about it? Online?0

The manual just tells you how to turn the childlock on and off. I've searched online loads of times and nothing. I mean, you would think the engineer could work it out!0
