Looks like my lawn has become a public toilet for the cats!!
Looking at options to keep them out - I have tried all the usual options, sprayers, electronic - they work but are not permanent solutions.

Cat fencing is something which might work. My current fence is concrete posts and around 6ft.

I was hoping to get rebar shaped into 100cm * 30cm at an angle of 130 or so degrees and fix to the concrete post using pipe clamps and then add cat proofing netting or wires.  My fence is probably 50ish metres.

Would this work? Any suggestions?

Firstly, are you 100% sure it's cats? Have you seen them going on the lawn? Our lawn is covered in hedgehog poo this time of year and it looks similar.

Cat fencing is a pretty extreme solution as your garden can end up looking a bit like a prison yard. If you see cats then spraying them with a hose times a few times is normally enough for them to get the message (and won't hurt them - I tell the neighbours they're welcome to spray our cat if he's annoying them!).

The pellets and sonic scarers are pretty useless, agreed.

I hope you don’t mind my saying this but are you sure it’s cats? The only reason I ask is that cats will bury their own poo.
It’s a thing that come from big cats to hide their scent to avoid predators.

Hedgehogs could be adding, but have cats crapping on camera

Not all cats will bury their poo - I have one that will scoop out a hole in the nascent lawn here, take a dump, and leave it on display. Says to the world "This is my domain and I am top dog here".
Cats are agile little creatures, and they can climb pretty much any fence. If they want to get in to a garden, they'll find a way.

Absolutely not true.  We ended up removing our front lawn completely because cats were using it as a toilet.  Mowing cat carp is not a pleasant experience.

You can get plastic spikes to put on the top of the fence  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fence-Wall-Spikes-13-5M-40-5M/dp/B0046ZFBQI

I used lightweight expanding trellis screwed to the top of my panels
I have nice plants growing up them now as an extra deterrent and to look better.
    100pc cat proof for 18mts.
Even the squirrel doesn't like it and deters seagulls.
1pound 50 a pop from local diy. Garden centre 8pounds. Same brand

Presumably your netting will be hanging inwards over your garden rather than outwards? What happens when a cat gets over it and is trapped in your garden?

I'd second the trellis option. We put up a piece on the last section of our fencing to deter our own cat from getting onto the much higher wall that backs onto our garden as we didn't want her to get over as we were pretty sure she would not be able to get back. It's worked.
