I used the GGF to complain about the way our local DG firm behaved when talks with them went nowhere sensible. The GGF appeared toothless and did nothing useful.

In the end, when we didn't have the conservatory we'd ordered, just the one they wanted to give us and  6 months of wrangling over it, I examined the contract's T&C carefully. This revealed a  breach in terms of supplied paperwork, so I paid 2/3 of the agreed price and told the company to come after us for the rest.

They didn't.
