Why do the statements contain only the initial of my name?

Most of my statements use my Initials so for example (Not my real name) Mr S M Smith ,Not Mr Sam Mark Smith...
Dunno why that is.0 -
I had an minor issue with this earlier in the year when I was using proof of ID (Photo/Address) and all bar one of my bank statements, bills used my initials. The other company would not accept these without my full name on which was difficult.
Halifax, my oldest account has always had just my initials on, I think Starling is perhaps the only bank account I have that lists me with my full name rather than initials. But never been an issue other than that0 -
Natwest just has my initial. I have never found this to be a problem.
OP, is this actually causing any difficulties for you (ie is there a sibling with the same initials living at the same address) or just something that irritates you for whatever reason? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
I understand that it's not something that people generally consider because rarely they are asked to prove their address and residency.elsien said:Natwest just has my initial. I have never found this to be a problem.

It's not an immediate concern and I hope that I won't have problems in the future, especially for such a silly thing an initial.0 -
My sole account with NatWest has my first name and my wife's account has her first name. However, our joint account only has our initials.elsien said:Natwest just has my initial. I have never found this to be a problem.

Even with the full name someone could claim that it belongs to someone else with your forename and surname.pieroabcd said:Hi,
I'm always been baffled and angry by the lack of my full name from my some of my bank statements. Why is it replaced with the initial?
Without the full name someone could claim that it belongs to someone else with my surname rather than to me.For many years the only difference in commonly used identifying details between myself and my father was date of birth. Made for a few 'interesting' moments.Eco Miser

That's the reason why in other places the statements include: name, surname, addrress and NINEco_Miser said:
