Its a sellers market. Can sit there in his Y fronts if he wants. I think you need to get a grip....in the nicest possible way.
Next time just say is it at all possible vendor not be present. Problem solved. I personally prefer vendor showing me around
Not sure it is a sellers market for one-bed flats in London, for people who need an offer on them before they can even view other properties.

I also prefer the vendor showing me around but the key here is showing me around, not sitting there making me feel like I'm in their way while the EA makes awkward small talk.

Well, I now understand why Covid cases are so high. In the middle of a pandemic and people think there's nothing wrong with people from 3 different households crammed into a one-bed flat with the windows closed....Christ almighty!
Then why did you choose to stay? As a result how many in your own household did you choose to put at risk ?
I live on my own but do continue to make me laugh with your presumptions.

I decided that the risk was already taken by the time I'd already gone in and realised the vendor was there, and obviously I had just walked an hour to get there and taken time off work, so wasn't thrilled about wasting my time, so decided to try to view quickly in case it was nice.

    That OK with you?
Yes, that's ok with me. But your friends and co-workers...our thoughts are with them
Who do you think I'm seeing, exactly? I work from home. Has the fact there's still a pandemic on just totally escaped you?

Maybe they felt just as awkward as you did? You don't know their personal situation. Out of interest did you like the flat?

But that was on them! They had all the power in the situation. If they didn't want that then they should have said to come after work?!

The flat was OK, but as I said, I felt so stressed and pressured that I couldn't properly look/think. I don't understand why vendors don't see that this is going to make people far less likely to make an offer...it's already tough having to part with so much money after a 10 min viewing, the least they can do is let people have a proper look and not feel pressured!
  • Op, what exactly are you trying to achieve from this thread? You asked for opinions, you got them.

Not many people on here agree with you. You asked your colleagues ( remotely I presume) and they agreed with you. You like people agreeing with you, and dislike people disagreeing with you.

So for your own peace of mind, only ever ask people who are likely to agree with you.

Then you can get on with your life, safe in the knowledge that your opinion is right.

    Simples.

I honestly am very surprised that the majority of people wouldn't be bothered by trying to view a tiny one-bed flat while the owner of it sat there clearly annoyed by their presence and trying to get on with their work. I suspect that if they actually were in the situation themselves, they'd see it quite differently, but hey ho.

I prefer the vendor to be there. I get a much clearer idea if the property with the owner in situ.

Perhaps it's a first time viewing/situation for them. Maybe, just maybe they thought it would be OK but when you showed up and the whole thing felt awkward. Also I would assume your demeanor probably didn't help the situation either

Well you weren't going to make an offer anyway were you?

No serious buyer is going to decide to not make an offer on a property because of something that temporarily happened during the viewing that won't affect the property in the slightest.

nmight well have, yes, if I'd been able to look comfortably. at the very least I now need to do a second viewing, which wastes everyone's time again, compared to if he'd just been normal and gone out like everyone else does.
