Vendor present at the viewing

Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering if I'm being unreasonable here. I went to a viewing today and to my surprise, the vendor was there, working from home during it. This really annoyed me immediately and I felt SO uncomfortable, especially given the Delta variant being on the rise! I think even there weren't a pandemic, it would have still been weird and uncomfortable because who wants the vendor sitting there looking at you when you're trying to look for damp and ask questions to the EA and whatever else? I considered just leaving and then decided to stay and look in case the place was nice, but my discomfort and anxiety meant I really just wanted to get out ASAP.
The agent has asked me what I thought and I told her I have no interest because of the above. I felt awkward and uncomfortable and I felt I was put at risk. She said I could have asked the vendor to leave....really?? Was it really on me to ask someone to their face to leave their own home? I shouldn't have been put in that position, IMO.
Am I being unreasonable here or am I right?

You are being unreasonable, its perfectly normal for a vendor to be present at a viewing. In my opinion that is. !8

Seems like an odd reason to not be interested in the property. I presume the vendor will not still be sat there when you move in.25

Sometime venders do the viewings how will you cope in that situation? When viewing recently I wore a mask but most venders did not, it's their house if the virus is there its there! them wearing a mask makes no difference.
Never be negative about someones house in front of the vendor that's just rude! Speak to the EA outside.
Also having the vendor there can be a positive because you can get instant answers to questions and queries.
So I feel you are being unreasonable.10 -
At one time it was normal for the vendor to show people round. We were quite surprised when we put our house on the market that the agent expected to do the viewings.3

I must have viewed 50 properties since COVID and 99% of the time the vendor did the viewing! Much better than the agent IMO as they will be much more helpful answering any questions. If you see damp you can literally ask - do you know what caused this damp/has it been treated/has the cause been rectified? The EA will not know the answer to this I bet.If however you are this anxious about COVID I would suggest this isn’t a good time for you to be looking at property.17

Well, I now understand why Covid cases are so high. In the middle of a pandemic and people think there's nothing wrong with people from 3 different households crammed into a one-bed flat with the windows closed....Christ almighty!
And by the way, I'm not talking about 'rude' questions, I just want to be able to look around freely and ask stuff, not be conscious of someone sitting there staring at me. It makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. Of course if the vendor is doing the viewing, that's fine. They'd be wearing a mask and doing the tour, not sitting there on the couch looking at me.1 -
Totally unreasonable. It's their home!
In terms of the pandemic concerns - most vendors will leave the house a few minutes before viewers arrive, having been breathing and living in the house all day up until that point. It really makes no difference.
Would have been interested in the reaction you got if you had left...3 -

How was the vendor being in the living room preventing you looking at the room, unless they were leaning against a wall conspicuously obscuring a damp patch or enjoying a spot of Morris dancing across the floor?8
