the shop has robbed me , what can i dio??

ok was over a week ago now but i went shop bought pack of cigs and pork pie, should have been £11 but i looked at bank statement and they charged me £23!! with no receipt, what can i do, ? thanks

 You can complain to your bank but without a receipt i cant see it getting far

This has happened twice to friends in two different local shops!
Both time the amount was an exact 10 more!

One friend went back and confronted the shop keeper who refunded the amount "overcharged" but the other was like yourself and didn't realise immediately! Also no receipt either time


IMHO it appears the shop keeper is deliberately overcharging then possibly pocketing the extra? But obviously can't be certain.

All I can say is always check the hand held device before tapping your bank card and ask for a receipt!

The following is advised:

1. Keep at the machine before making a payment to see how much it it for.

2. Get a receipt.

3. Sign up for payment notifications. I often get an email before the card machine says it has accepted the payment.

Even with a receipt it makes no difference.

Clearly the receipt will show the amount debited from the account...

Maybe it includes cashback the OP forgot about

Can you do cash back on contactless payments?

If you cannot and it was contactless that at least would eliminate that possibility
