Car breaks squeaking after new pads/discs fitted

Hi,
I had new disks and pads fitted to my car last week (rear). Since then when I set off the car makes the most awful high pitched squeaking noise!
Contacted the garage who said it's not related! Yet this noise started immediately after it'd been in the garage! Then they suggested washing it as it's been dry and might be dust. It's been washed and the noise remains. It's that bad I get people staring when I set off! Doesn't do it when breaking or in reverse, just that initial setting off in first.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Oh it's related for sure.
The new pads are rubbing lightly on the discs, hence the noise going away when you apply more pressure.
Why it's doing it is more of a potential problem as it suggests the calipers are a bit seized and not releasing properly.
Perhaps they didn't clean the calipers or put new sliding pins in.

Thanks, yes all seemed very coincidental for it not to be related. I've told them I'm bringing it in tomorrow regardless and want it looking at. Car was absolutely fine prior to the new pads/discs being fitted, well looked after! Can't be doing with the noise much longer!BOWFER said:Oh it's related for sure.

It's possible that one or more calipers is not retracting fully, and the extra thickness of new discs and pads is causing a bit of binding. If that is the case, it'll resolve itself quickly as that first little bit of pad wears away.
If that is the cause, then it's not really the garage's fault. You may simply need a new caliper, or a bit of time spending on cleaning the slides more fully.1 -
If it does need new callipers that's fine, but I'd have hoped they'd have mentioned it to me at the time, I'm no expert!AdrianC said:It's possible that one or more calipers is not retracting fully, and the extra thickness of new discs and pads is causing a bit of binding. It's funny I always have trouble when I let garages do my brakes. Never any problems when I do them.0

Reading the title I was thinking, what's broken on the car after new pads fitted?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

The last time they didn't grease my caliper pin. Only one pad was braking. Still passed the MOT test so they wouldn't do anything about it. Greased it myself and bingo. Sorted.0

"Still passed the MOT test"Which it will if the braking efficiency is within limits and there is no braking imbalance.I hope you didn't use bearing grease or similar?0

It seems like it under a new alias, but the condemnation of garages is consistent
