Virgin Media Loss of Service for 6 days only £20.00 Compensation

In our area the Virgin Media Broadband went down for 2 days in May and 4-5 days in June. I phoned up to complain and get them to process a credit to my account. In 2020 I had no broadband for 2 days and they credited £16.00 into my account without even contacting them. This time its a different story. I was speaking to someone in the Philippines who told me I was not entitled to any compensation because it was an intermittent problem. I was offered £5.00 as a good will gesture after complaining, they eventually increased it to £20.00. Loss of service for 6-7 days for £20.00 compensation doesn't seem like a fair deal to me.

How does the £20 compensation compare to the amount you pay per month?

With £20, it is possible to achieve an alternative provision of internet connectivity using a mobile GSM device.

Why do you not think that £20 is fair?
How much would you think is fair?

We lost Virgin BB for a week last year, didn't complain, didn't get any compensation. The builders on a local building site had accidentally chopped some wires they shouldn't have, took a few days to fix. Such is life. I'd say £20 is fair enough.

If you pay less than £80 a month for the affected service, then £20 compensation is adequate.

As above. It's basically a pro-rata rate based on your monthly payment, so £20 seems more than adequate for 6 days. No compo for consequential losses, mental anguish, etc.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    I think £8.06 a day is fair..

The amount of compensation you should receive is £8.00 a day. £20.00 doesn't even cover 3 days and why should the decision be down to someone in the Philippines.

A builder chopping through the broadband cables and having loss of service for a few days, is a bit different to having continually problems in your area with the Virgin Media Service.

So based on that, £20/3 = £6.66 a day * 30 days, you pay £199.80 a month for the service from VM?
