Pozitive energy PLC

Has anyone had dealings with this company?  I recently moved into a property and the electric company was them.  I changed to British Gas and my bill is £50 per month.  Pozitive have now decided to send me a bill for the month before the changeover IT IS £500 Is this legal?  I have not signed anything with them, the electric was just on when I moved in.

    Welcome to the forum.
You became responsible for the usage from the time you gained possession.  You entered into a deemed contract with Pozitive the moment you switched on a light.  If you didn't submit an opening meter reading you may be paying for energy used by the previous occupier.
Make sure you send monthly readings and that your DD payments are keeping up with your actual usage.

What was the reading when you moved in and what is it now?  That will get you a correct figure (providing you know actual tariff / standing charge for the period)

It is legal for the incumbent supplier, Pozitive Energy in your case, to bill you for the energy used before you switched.  You would have taken a meter reading when you moved in and again on the day you switched so you can compare these with the readings on your bill from Pozitive Energy.

BTW, this is the board for LPG, Heating Oil, Solid & Other Fuels.  The site layout is very buggy and sadly the latest revamp failed to fix it.

Post in Energy and you'll get more replies.

Checked on the web and Pozitive Energy are a BUSINESS SUPPLIER, and as such they are not allowed to supply domestic customers.

However, if your new home is a rental it's possible your Landlord owns many properties with each one being registered as part of the business, but even then it's 'Iffy' to be charging Business tariffs to domestic dwellings
( Check the VAT rate on the bill - If it's 20% you are being charged as a business when it should be 5% - ie that £500 bill should be £420)

WRITE a  letter to Pozitive asking why as a business supplier, they billing a domestic user

What tariff do you think BG are supplying you on - is this also a Business tariff.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
