Just a quick check in from Cyprus to say that we’ve both been paid and the money hokey-cokey has happened; bills and mortgage paid, regular savers topped up. We’ll do a full reckoning and update all the spreadsheets when we get home. Looking like we’ll still need to make some extra cash in November though.

Good news, my parking ticket appeal was successful! My Dad’s was as well (can’t remember if I said he’d had one, too) Really chuffed with that.
So far DH’s job is safe. They made the redundancies yesterday and he avoided the chop. We still need to get our emergency savings on a better footing though so that will be the plan for November.

What a relief re DH's job and the potential fines. It's been such an anxious time for you.

We're back and its really COLD! We have no heating due to kitchen shenanigans so DH has got the woodburner going first thing.
We had a really lovely time away, it was super chill and relatively not expensive for 5 people. DH and the kids swam in the sea most days and me and my Dad walked on the seafront. It was warm and dry and the house we stayed in was ideal for us. All in all a relaxing half term.
I feel like I should do a money update, but in all honesty I'm a bit tired and the money situation is 'okay' so I'm not going to stress over it. Suffice to say we need to earn a bit extra this month to keep the credit card in check but it should be doable.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

So, still no kitchen. The worktop was scratched and the fitter took it away. Goodness know how long it will be until a replacement arrives. But that mean still no hob, no sink, no radiator and no heating until its sorted. We're managing with the cooker and the woodburner but it is a pain, especially as its getting colder now.
The council are out the front digging up the road to install a new rainwater drain and they are making a total racket.
My dad's had an email from RBL to say they'll likely give him a small grant towards his heating costs, which will be brilliant. I have to go over tomorrow and help him with his blue badge application again.
DH has £30 to cash out on SB and I am almost at £25, we both also have £15 bonus to come as well.
Going to try and do the spreadsheets today to get back on track with the finances. Wish me luck!
