  • Hello all,

Thanks for plodding along with me. No news except a ton of bills have gone out. Including our regular £325 mortgage overpayment. Oh, and Nationwide have recalculated our mortgage end date, it is now July 2041, down from the original August 2043.

We're currently ensconced in the front room with the door closed and the woodburner going so that we don't have to heat the rest of the house even though it is baltic today! Did have to put the tumbler on for about 2 hours yesterday as we got caught out by the weather. Tried to do our meter reading last night but of course the website was down. DH took a photo though so hopefully that'll be okay.

DH's brother and kids are now not coming on the weekend because of my covid. Which is sort of a relief as I feel too ill for visitors. I also haven't got the 2nd job this weekend, which saves on diesel as well.

    Stay safe folks!

I have done very little all weekend, except feed the woodburner and cook one family meal. DH has been marvellous, doing the heavy lifting and even the kids did a reasonable amount of helping out. I'm back in work today and boy, do I not want to go. I don't feel ill anymore (yay!) I just feel sort of low-level resentment. Still it'll be fine once I get stuck in, I'll remember why I like it.

Some more bills have gone out  (insurance, energy, small charity payment) and automatic savings transfer has been made and now the joint account is looking quite bare. CB goes in tomorrow and I get my pay from my 2nd job next week, so it'll be fine but it just looks depressing on paper.

Goals for this week are simple; keep head above water. With DH in London for two full days this will be harder than normal. Also, I noticed that our shower tray is leaking, so we must get that sorted asap.

Hope you get back in the swing of things soon. Do you have time off in April?

    Evening all

No, no time off in April, @savingholmes - if anything we'll be even more busy than normal as we're off travelling for 9 days - self-inflicted of course so I can't complain. We'll have fun and enjoy ourselves for sure, it it won't be relaxing at all.

First day of DH being in London done. It was busy but I survived. Got everyone out of the house on time. Did some work. Went to see my Dad, negotiated him cheaper broadband. Went to the Post Office in the pouring rain. Met a friend for coffee, which was lovely. Bought something easy for tea. Picked DS up from school. Bought shampoo and gerbil food. Came home. Got DD and DS to do a few jobs. Made dinner. Ate dinner. Had 50 minutes to myself. Watched a film with the kids and got them to bed on time.

Have to do it all again tomorrow except with the added complication of a 60 mile round trip to the orthodontist with DD slap bang in the middle of the school day.

Nothing MSE to report. Nine days until 2nd payday.

  • Back off hols. Had a great time. Went to work on less than 5 hours sleep after getting home at 2am. DH has taken care of all the washing. Have about £200 left until the end of the month. Roll on payday. Fuller update soon.
