Good luck with editing. It sounds busy, not surprising you feel tired. Hope you get to relax today.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Nothing of any significance to report. I've worked all week, I wrote/edited on my day off and I'm absolutely knackered. We have four 11-year-olds downstairs being quite 'high-energy' right now for DS's birthday and I'm about to go and collect DD from horse riding.
Its my birthday tomorrow and I'm looking forward to doing nothing all day.
I have an eye tested booked for Monday, and will need to get new glasses if my prescription has changed.
We've kept spending under control (no splurges) and I get paid from 2nd job on Tuesday.
DH also has his final interview for the new job on Tuesday, so I have my fingers crossed for that. I think he'd be happier and he might also be able to get a bit more money.
Wednesday I have a meeting about my book and I am so excited!

Hi all,
2nd job payday today, so we made a £175 mortgage overpayment. That'll be it until next payday now.
Birthday was strange. I don't want to moan, but DH booked a table in a restaurant at the last minute as a surprise and I really, really didn't want to go, but he had already invited my Dad so I felt obliged. Cut a long story short we ended up spending £200 and having a huge row, and I had a horrendous hangover yesterday. I realise I sound ungrateful, but all I wanted to do was stay in my PJ's and relax, which I didn't get to do.
DS has tested positive for Covid yesterday, and he's really under the weather, cough, runny nose, sneezing, really wheezy chest, no energy. Trying to nurse him whilst simultaneously keeping our distance isn't easy.
Have the first meeting about my book tomorrow which is super exciting!
So, DH is literally on the phone to the new company and I think they've offered him the job, so I'll wait to see what the remuneration and benefits are - watch this space!- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Just about to leave for 2nd job.
Popping in to say that the new company did offer DH the job at £10K more than his current role, but after talking to his line manager about it his current company have agreed to match the offered salary with immediate effect and add some new responsibilities which DH is excited about. The new company didn't have a bonus scheme and the current one does, so overall it is a better financial package. DH seems pretty happy about it all.
I think we'll be about £500 a month better off, which can go straight onto the mortgage.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Thanks for all you well wishes everyone. Sometimes it feel strange writing into the void but it is always lovely to read your comments in reply. This ol' MSE life can be a bit lonely sometimes, especially when friends don't understand why you don't buy the things they buy, or do the things they do, but knowing there are people out there who do get it - makes a big difference.
I'm currently stuck in bed with an inner-ear infection that is giving me really bad vertigo, every time I move my head the whole room spins. Luckily, I don't feel ill but I do feel useless especially as DS still has covid and DD is under the weather too.
We've registered with the scheme to host a Ukrainian refugee this week, but goodness knows how long it will be - if ever - that we get matched with someone.
I also applied to Dogs Trust to rehome a 14yo STB but they turned us down, which made me feel a bit sad as we would have given the old girl a lovely life.
I researched trading in our car and getting an electric vehicle but the prices are bonkers and realistically I don'y think we can afford it.
11 days until pay day and honestly if feels like it can't come fast enough! Hopefully DH's payrise will have been processed and we'll have some extra from that. There might be a small payrise in the offing from my main job, but I found out yesterday that the 2nd job hasn't had a payrise in 9 years! Which is frankly shocking. So I doubt there'll be one there.
