Annoying re inability to get quotes.

Hope you get to the bottom of where your money is going. Paying £20k off mortgage is huge

Morning @powerspowers and @savingholmes It's kind of you to drop by, I know I don't have the most scintillating diary so your kind words and perseverance is appreciated!

I did a bit of pension paperwork yesterday which felt good. Laughably the forecast is that I need a £148,000 private pension pot but I doubt I will ever get anywhere near that, so I keep plodding along and refusing to stress about something that I may never get to use. Between DH and I we currently have £83,000 - and 26ish years to go until retirement age.

Its a nice day here today, there's washing already drying on the line and more to be pegged out later. We have a kitchen fitter coming at 10 to have a look around with a view o giving us a quote and then I'm going over to see my Dad and either cut his hair to take him to a barber, the latter if I can convince him the former if not. Then I'm popping to a shop to buy a tin of paint. Then I'm collecting DS from school.

Slowly slowly slowly making progress in the house. I jet washed a path last night and made a start on jet washing our decking, but it is slow going. I swept the front path this morning in my dressing gown. The kitchen worktops are currently clear and clean and I've swept and vacuumed the kitchen floor.

Nothing of note on the money front. 2nd job payday tomorrow, will try and make a small mortgage OP and squirrel some into savings.

    Stay safe moneysavers!

Called in sick to 2nd job. Chest infection is slightly ridiculous, I can't get a full sentence out without coughing. I work with the public and even though its not covid its still contagious.

Returned the new smartphone for a refund. Couldn't get to grips with Android after so long using iOs. Will wait until the money is back on the card before looking at an Apple one.

Got paid from 2nd job. Made a £107 mortgage OP and sent £50 to savings. Need to chat to DH about what we realistically need to last us until the end of the month and then will see if we can save or OP more.

Got DH to open a Chase account to get the 1.5% savings interest. Its not huge but certainly much better than what we are currently getting. Will transfer over all savings except the regular savers.

Checked energy usage and looked on comparison sites to see if there were any savings to be made against Sh3ll. Sadly not so stuck with them for now.

Dad agreed to go to the barbers. He had a cut, wet shave and beard trim and he LOVED it! Definitely think it will be easier to get him to go again. It cost £18 - so not MSE - but it was worth every penny for the experience.

I think that's all for now. Stay safe moneysavers.

Good that your dad enjoyed the barber visit. Hopefully it will lift his spirits too.

You are sounding very productive. Hope you feel better soon.

You could try ioutlet for a refurbed iPhone - I got mine from there and was so pleased that Mr MV, his mum and dad have all had phones from there since - we’ve all been happy and a fraction of the price of new.

Not a lot to report, I'm working a lot over the next few days (basically nine days straight with 1 day off in the middle) but it does mean I will get a lot of mileage and also some time off in lieu later. Trying not to overspend but there are a few extras creeping in here and there, mainly food because I am too tired to cook.

We did make an extra mortgage overpayment of £94 and sent £200 to savings.

Hopefully the builders will get their quotes to us this week and we can finally press 'GO' on the new kitchen.

That's all for now. Stay safe all.

9 days straight sounds painful. Hope you've got a lot of support at home or batch cooked meals to help

We're well and truly in the middle of the month doldrums. No income expected for another 13 days, unless work pay my expenses. I calculated I'm owed about £200 in total now with more to add next week.

Nothing from any of the builders yet and nothing from Wren about the measurement visit either.

It's my one day off tomorrow and I plan on doing very little.
