They limit the number of streams for the live events so you can find for the popular stuff UHD not available
(don't make the mistake of giving up your feed at half time to watch something else, you might find its gone for the second half)

There is quite a lot of UHD on the BBC

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/questions/features/uhd-connected-tv/#/Notification

A couple of good links further down that page on how the BBC is doing all this for live broadcasts

For a lot of stuff it is the HDR that enhances the picture over HD/SDR option.

My Panasonic recognises the feeds on each source and uses different settings for HDR.
Don't get the dimming once the overlay has gone.

Good luck sorting out your iPlayer issue.
Thanks. I found a different and more useful Youtuber guide (HDTVTest) and applied the suggested settings from his vid, with a few tweaks (don't some people like their colour up!!!) and found that the very good picture that those settings provided were also good for BBC UHD - watching Federer lose yesterday looked great, even if it wasn't his best result. Still not brilliant like Sky Q UHD, but more than watchable. It's a pity that ITV had the game last night.

There is a limit but it's way higher than it was for the 2018 World Cup, where there was a real danger of not connecting or losing it if you tuned away. I've found no bother in getting on to UHD shortly before or after ko, and once during the second half on Eng v Ger. BBC content distribution has moved on in leaps and bounds in the recent past.
