Thanks but I presume your comment is just a general comment and a link rather than you know they have this model on discount.
With all due respect I'm not asking who sells TVs I'm really looking for specifics.0 -
Whatever TV research how to get the hours used, and service cycles, might be on a regular menu or need access to service menu.
Get YouTube test patterns up to look for any image retentions from known flaws or static images.
Red suffers the most on OLED panels (they are all LG).1 -
To end this.
I talked myself into going for a 65" Sony A8 Oled.
It's 2020 model rather than the A80 out now but it was £1000 cheaper going this way and the change from 20/21 was minimal, some reviews say 2020 TV is better so that's my MSE slant.
£1645 with 5 year warranty (not screen burn obviously).
Picture is amazing. Doing from 40" to 65" took a bit of getting used to.3 -

We have just gone from a ten year old 42 inch Plasma to a new 55 inch LG OLED so a much smaller jump than you. I love it but my wife found the larger screen quite a shock at first.
The football looks really good on a 55 inch screen. I also watch a lot of Blu Ray Operas and the picture is wonderful on the larger screen.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -

(think you still need the beta)1 -
Caught a couple of games on the iPlayer UHD. Unfortunately the next England game is on ITV.
I'm in London on the day and night of the final with friends. Could be an awesome atmosphere.
Or a big anticlimax....0 -

(think you still need the beta)I enjoyed the match in UHD on iPlayer. I also recorded it in HD on Sky+ to compare afterwards and, although the HD picture is excellent, the UHD is even better.
I hadn't yet got around to exploring all the options on a Smart TV and I didn't know that I could get that football match in UHD on BBC iPlayer.
I also didn't realise that YouTube has a lot of HD content. I thought it was mainly SD and lesser quality.
I spent a few hours watching good quality Bruce Springsteen and other music videos and I also found a recent Royal Opera House broadcast of La Traviata which I will enjoy soon.
Thanks again.A man walked into a car showroom.

Hi Belenus. Do you find you have to drop into the picture settings menu for iPlayer UHD to get a picture that's at least as good as HD?
I've given up on BBC UHD for the football as the initial view of the football after it loads (and Wimbledon UHD) has an overlay that dims the picture and carries a bit of branding + info. After a couple of seconds the branding text goes, the picture flickers to full brightness then drops back to a dim dull image, as if the overlay has stuck. I can get it to be a bit better by changing the settings in a spare preset (I based it on Vivid) but it's not great. Cricket and F1 in UHD via the Sky box are absolutely tremendous, so the tv can do it, it seems that the BBC iPlayer lacks something.
This is on a 2019 Bravia AG8.
Thanks
(100Mb fttp, Amazon & Netflix UHD/4K are great)0 -
I had no problem like that.
My new TV is an LG-OLED55C14LB. In the afternoon, after seeing getmore4less's comment, I selected iPlayer on the TV, I was asked to sign into iPlayer on my laptop which then brought it up on the TV. I presume BBC make the link because my TV and Laptop are on the same IP address. I selected the 'stay logged in' option so I don't have to sign in repeatedly.
At about 7:45 I again opened iPlayer on the TV, chose BBC1 and there was an option to select the match in UHD.
It worked perfectly straight away. I didn't have to make any adjustments in settings or elsewhere.
The picture was noticeably better than HD on Sky, but perhaps not quite as good as some other UHD stuff I found on the internet. Perhaps BBC use a bit of compression on UHD iPlayer.
I presume you have Sky Q if you get UHD. I only have Sky+ so HD is the best I can get. I suppose I will upgrade to Sky Q eventually when there is enough UHD content to justify it but I have dozens of HD operas and other music programme on Sky+ that I don't want to lose.
Good luck sorting out your iPlayer issue.A man walked into a car showroom.

The one thing to note though is that all of the streaming services use lossy compression so that people with mere mortal internet connections can keep up (and so it doesnt quadruple the streaming company's own internet bills). Unfortunately they still have a noticeable gap from a UHD Dolby Digital Blu-ray or equiv1
