Vodafone refusing disconnection for 30 days

I’ve sold my home and have moved out. Unfortunately there was only a 1 week period between exchange of contracts and moving out - due to the stamp duty rush by end-June.
I asked vodafone to cut off the line/broadband by tomorrow (25 June) but they’ve refused and say it has to remain connected for 30 days from when I gave them notice. This seems ridiculous. I don’t mind paying for that 30 day period but the new owner needs to connect the phone line so he can work from home.
Does anyone know if there’s any way around this?

TBH, it only affects the new occupant if they want to use Virgin , and if VM by holding you to the 30 day notice won’t supply the new owner till after that those 30 days have expired , perhaps the new occupant should consider using someone else.
FWIW there is no physical reason why just because VM are insisting that you pay for a month you cannot use , that they cannot also process the new occupants order , you are being billed because the T&C’s allows them to insist on 30 days notice, there is nothing to stop them giving the new occupant service while you service the notice period0 -
What has Virgin Media got to do with it? OP talks of Vodafone.0

Doing two things at once, dunno why I thought it was VM0
