Flight Cancellation due to medical issue, no Insurance. Help?

I am hoping someone can help. We booked flights for the family to Turkey last year for August this year. As my eldest is now over 21 and employed they are no longer covered by my family travel insurance but had their own. As life is often want to do, my partner was diagnosed with arthritis in both hips and has had to undergo a double hip replacement the result being she can not travel. We have gathered the evidence, cancelled the EasyJet flights £2,400 in total and looked to our travel insurance. Unfortunately, my eldest mistakenly took Emails from their own travel insurance company informing them their insurance was being automatically reviewed year on year. Yep, you guessed it, it wasn't. This leaves my eldest with a £600 loss as their insurance ran out in July 2020 ahead of us booking the flights in Sep 2020.
Is there any other route to secure even a partial refund for this loss? It is a genuine mistake. Does this fall under Section 75 of my credit card agreement on which the flight was payed for?
Eny help would be greatly appreciated, if only to protect my carpets in the house from being worn away by a certain chin being on the ground :-)

You could hang fire on cancelling anything until the situation for August is known and/or could look at the cost of changing the flights to a future date.
Easyjet don't charge a fee for APD refund however this would only be £13
edit: re-read that you have already cancelled the flights so my second point is not applicable (hopefully they don't subsequently cancel/reschedule the flights....as that would have got you a refund if you had not already cancelled)0 -
As above.
I feel for your situation but people must stop thinking that S75 is a magic wand and a get out of any sticky situation solution. The airline/credit card company have done no wrong so completely unfair to expect them to cover your potential loss.3 -
Can't the rest of the (adult) family go on the holiday?0

Unfortunately this is a clear cut case for your travel insurance.
If one of your party mistakenly didn’t have insurance you/they will have to take the hit as nobody else is going to be queuing up to reimburse you for your mistake.1 -
Turkey is on the red list at present and may well stay there. It is too late now but for anyone else with bookings, do not cancel as it is likely the airlines will do so and then you are entitled to a full refund. I am sorry for your loss, but without insurance coverage as everyone else has said, there is nowhere else to go.0
