What emulsion have you used on your walls?

Hi, we are just removing old wallpaper so that we can paint the walls white or light grey and wondered what paint people are using. Our local Dulux centre told us that people are now using the newer hard wearing paints like their Dulux Easy Care but, when you look on the shelves in B&Q, most paint is just normal emulsion. Would be very interested to know what you have used. Thanks.

New extension, beautifully finished and skimmed by our wonderful builder, and then painted by him too 'cos I'm lazy and he's as brill as the white chosen. He recommended Dulux Matt Vinyl for the walls (and their non-vinyl equiv for the ceilings as it breathes better).Simply stunning.Nephew comes along and sticks dirty bluetack to it which left a residue, and after Nan calmed down she got out a cloth and some Jif. I cautioned against this, convinced it would mar the finish, but she was adamant. And I was wrong. Good as new.0

I just tend to go for matt emulsion from one of the well known brands. I'm not keen on vinyl emulsion or any paint with a sheen on walls or ceilings. It's a personal choice though & somebody with young kids might prefer to go for something on the walls that they can scrub. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Kitchen - Dulux Trade Vinyl Soft Sheen. Bathroom - Dulux Bathroom (thin and horrible, needs so many coats). Lounge F & B estate emulsion. Bedrooms 2 x Dulux Matt Emulsion (meh). 1 x Good Home (B & Q) matt emulsion (gorgeous, thick and cheap!) All ceilings in cheap trade white emulsion."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

It's not 'silk'.It's as matt as a matt thing.

I used the Dulux ultra matt on our ceilings and trade non-vinyl matt on our walls. No complaints. No vinyl for me; but we've no kids.0

Currently using my favourite emulsions from wickes (own branded products) trade Contract matt emulsion Pbw and other colours.
Never had reason to complainUsed them for years and they can be slightly watered down.
Wilko sells dulux easycare, often a little cheaper but i find wilko dont keep much stock on the shelf down my part of the country due to a plague shoplifters.
Paint is just a part of decorating, preparation is the keyChoose Stabila !0 -

@TanDiy, if you want a scrubable matt emulsion then try Dulux Trade Diamond or theri Trade Durable flat matt emulsion. They also do a new product now called Scuffshield, I'm not sure what that's like though.

We don't really use white paint much so our experience is of more *saturated* colours. Always Matt.
We've used primarily Farrow & Ball and Little Greene here, plus Craig & Rose in the kitchen and Crown (period range) in the boiler room. We actually prefer the Little Greene now after many years of swearing by F&B.
In addition we have Johnstone's on a couple of ceilings, but whilst the colour is good, the coverage is not.
Not keen on Valspar or B&Q's own brand.Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Earthborn Claypaint, nicest paint I've ever used, goes on in one coat on our mix of lime plaster, gypsum skim and drywall stud walls. It's ultra matt and hides a multitude of sins, the walls had been painted in vinyl matt but because the walls need to breathe we have trapped moisture1

Crown or Berger (which is hard to come by now) but recenty Johnsons which seems to be fine for cover and durable.
I used to use silk in bathroom and kitchen but the new matts do just fine these days.
I'd recommend something that is in constant supply for touching up unless you love painting walls as your passtime.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
