In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. It doesn't alter his (or your)rights. His solicitor will have advised him to do it as the insurance protects his asset, so it's reasonable for him to contribute.
If things dragged out for a long time it would make it harder for you to claim that he had given up any interest in the property or told you it was all yours, or anything of that kind, although it's unlikely that in itself it would make any difference. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)1 -
