Smart meter accuracy

My money is on the first year 2016 being 'low' due to an estimated read or estimated opening point, and/or the most recent 12 months being 'high' due to an estimated read or catch up from an estimated read.
We need pictures of the bills and/or the full meter reading history with what's estimated/customer/supplier reads to get to any conclusion.
PS. I'm not sold on the idea that cubic feet vs. cubic metres is the problem. The new meters will measure in cubic metres. If this was being interpreted by the supplier as cubic feet, then that would result in low bills for the customer. Anyway, we'll see with the bills.0 -

Just look at your latest bill regarding the smart meter. Are the values in m3 then converted to kwh. It should be easy to check that very quickly. If they have added a imperial conversion then it will be a quick win for you.
But nearly 4000KWH in summer is surely too high, I'm in the top 20% of nest users (whatever that means). I have a 32Kw boiler, which i'm guessing is pretty average? Does the 70 hours include water heating? my last 10 days on the app is showing zero usage, and may was a pretty good month weather wise?

The top 20% of nest user means you are in the 20% for earning 'leaves', which means next-to-nothing. Nest is trying to tell you you aren't using much heating.
The nest has no sight of hot water demand.
The bill shows here that you are basically being hit for catch up of historic usage. They estimated 6424.3 on 16 May, but on 21 May you reported the metre to be at 6692. That's what the little E and N are about.
You haven't used 267 m3 in 5 days (over 3,000kWh) "in summer" - it's a catch up because historic bills have been based on underestimated reads. You probably used this gas back in winter.

KISS principle. If the meter reads 00567.773 then the reading that is given to a supplier is 00567.0

Looking at that bill, the "N" reading on 21st May was 6692 and the "N" on 15th June was 6765. That's 73 cubic metres over 25 days; about 832kWh - which is 33kWh per day. That's relatively normal.

That's just over 12,000 KWH / year if averaged out, which is the ofgem medium TDCV gas usage, which probably doesn't include much if any heating, so mainly hot water? I'm guessing (hoping) this is still high and not my real usage!!!!
I'll take daily readings from today, like I said before it was only this morning the GAS readings read alarm bells to me so not really paid much attention!0 -
