Engineer broke phone!

Hi All
I'm looking for advice. I smashed my phone screen and took it to a third party repair shop to be replaced. The engineer basically broke every aspect of the phone, the speakers, the microphone, the fingerprint recognition, didn't replace heat transfer pads....etc. I had to take it to another engineer to confirm and try and rectify the damage.
The original eningeer initially offered a refund but is now completely ignoring me. What can I do?
TIA

You could write a letter (send it via signed-for delivery) stating your consumer rights and action you are willing to take if you do not receive suitable compensation by a given date.
You could try approaching local trading standards.
Worst case scenario, if you are out of pocket by more than the fee involved and all other options have been exhausted: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/small-claims-court/I think you might need a signed and dated report from the second engineer. On Edit: I think you might get better advice posting on the Consumer Rights boardA dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?1 -
As far as I can see the original engineer had only two options (1) offer to fix the problem they had created, or (2) offer to replace the whole phone. Neither of these two options were offered it would seem. They will probably argue that the offer of a refund of what you paid them, gives you free new screen, so is compensation. If you can get a report from the second engineer, you might have a court case, but be prepared for more costs before you get satisfaction.0
