Three years to get debt free

  • Mixed day today.
My friend came for coffee and we had lunch together. He has been storing some things in the garage so took them with him.

That then meant I could sort out the garage and organise it better-which I did! I found things I’d forgotten. It got a bit much when I saw a huge spider and so I avoided that area.

    I visited some family too.

Work tomorrow and so the cycle begins again!

  • First week teaching done. I’m just relieved it’s done.

Managed to get washing done today and other jobs to help save time over the weekend.

Tomorrow DD has clubs followed by a trip to my sisters work family day. Lots of things to do there. Sunday DD is with her dad so I’m going to catch up on cleaning and doing some work.

Money is ok. I’ll need to take from the other account as I’d accidentally ordered DD the wrong size uniform and that can’t wait. Not in my overdraft though and only thing needed is a full shop. I’ve allocated £40 to this.

  • Morning,

    Just at DD’s clubs.
Pay day has arrived and I’m down by £70 in my wages despite having a pay rise this year due to a promotion. I’m going to have to check my pay slip when it comes. I know the tax people think I’m going to be earning the same amount every month and have made my tax code so that they take a lot more so it could also be this. This will naturally adjust when they realise it isn’t the case and I usually get a rebate. Frustrating that they do this though.

I start my doctorate on the 1st October so it is all studying from then on. That will be interesting and a new opportunity for me. I’ve already been asked to go into a high school and do some training in a couple of weeks on a subject I know quite well. I’ve got 20 staff members so that will be daunting.

I’m really struggling with my back at the minute. I haven’t decided whether to have surgery or not. Surgery is extremely risky and can lead to full paralysis but the thought of chronic pain just makes me feel even worse. I’m having anxiety too so they are exploring whether or not I need CBT therapy. I have an appointment in a few weeks to support as I’m having nightmares about work.

I was out of my overdraft which is great. I did have to buy new school uniform too. I also bought a coat that was too small but DD had removed the tags so I will sell it online instead and get her a new one. I’m due a £20 voucher in the next two weeks so I will be using that to pay part of the new coat.

Big birthday in the next 6 weeks. Xx

  • It was my tax code that caused the money to go down. I’ve been online and manually amended my annual salary. It will reduce the tax code now as it had my summer job as a yearly amount and not the three months it is.

At least I won’t be worse off anymore!

I had a pension scheme from a previous job that closed down and I took the money rather than find somewhere else to invest it as it was only circa £6k My tax code shot up and it looked as though all my wages would be obliterated for the foreseeable 😱 I did get it sorted before my next payday thankfully and got them to understand it was a one off payment not every month! I wouldn’t mind but guess where I work 😆

    😂 I’m assuming there!!

It seems to have been amended online already so should get a full months pay in October. X

  • Having a morning relax after a busy week and another busy week ahead.

I’m really struggling with work and how it is.

Money is ok and I’m happy that I’ve got a better balance. DD has a gap in her two clubs so we’ve found a lovely independent coffee shop and do have started to have coffee there. That’s all I wanted. A balance of doing and sorting.

I’m going to have to buy adaptations for my back. The surgery is just too daunting for me so I’ve decided not to have it yet. There’s too many risks. It will mean I need a new bed though as mine isn’t supporting it. The one I need is expensive so I’m saving up for it as well.

Hope it goes well, fingers crossed.

  • Hadn’t realised how long it had been.
    Ofsted been and gone now.

pay day today and tax code is correct so for me correct pay. I didn’t get my expenses from June though. I think that is going to be months waiting despite asking for three months.

Money was fine. Some slight work done in the house and put money away.

Bills have been ridiculous and my gas and electric company can’t make their mind up what I should be paying. It’s varying massively and every month they are making it more difficult to budget.

I’m just grateful I can pay some more as things are getting more difficult. I’m managing to keep heating down to 30 mins a day when I get home from work. Mornings we are managing without and then at night DD and I have a 30 minute heated blanket. What we need to do and both are happy snuggling and keeping warm. DD uses hers if she gets up earlier than the alarm but still saving us tons.

The air fryer is saving us oven money too.   Cooks quicker than the oven and so much less energy used.

Selling a few items as well. That should buy me some bits. I’ve also bought some Christmas presents. Things for TAs etc. slow and steady!

8 days until my big big 40 birthday. No idea what I will do. I’m just grateful to have made it this far with work and my back
