Moving to sim only via third party

I currently have two pay monthly phone contracts with EE which I got via a third party vendor(affordable mobiles). One contract is coming to end of its minimum term in about 45 days. I received a call from affordable mobile yesterday to inform me that I can upgrade my contract. I politely refused to buy a new phone contract and told them that I will be moving to a sim only deal as my phone is in good condition. They tried selling me EE sim only deal but that was quite expensive plus I don’t want to sign another 24 months contract. They then tried to sell me smarty sim deal which is something I am interested in as it’s quite cheap plus only a 30 day rolling contract. I told them that I will give it a thought and get back to them.
Just for my understanding, I know third party venders make money by taking commission from selling fixed term contracts but how do they make money from selling 30 day rolling contracts as there is nothing which stops me from ditching smarty in a month after switching to them. I just don’t get the business benefit for any third party company for selling rolling contracts.

I assume they get a percentage every 30 days as you continue to pay for the SIM, may only be pennies but enough pennies give a steady income stream, and who knows? Should you decide to ditch it you may just go back to them & get another company SIM on offer and it stats again
