We just bought a house through Strike, and they were great to deal with. I liked the useful online portal, and they were very responsive to emails (with a designated member of staff for contact) and progressed at a good speed. I'd definitely consider using them to buy/sell if we ever needed to.
Property buying/selling timeline - currently into week 21
04/12/20: Both properties listed for sale
11/01/21: Offers accepted on both sales & on our joint purchase
25/01/21: Identity checks completed, solicitors instructed
27/01/21: Purchase survey & valuation complete, mortgage offer received
05/02/21: Reduction agreed on partner's sale (under-valuation) & on purchase. Mortgage offer amended
08/02/21: Buyers pack returned to solicitor - sellers packs already returned
    26/02/21: Partner's sale contract signed
    10/03/21: Purchase searches all back
    16/03/21: My sale contract signed
28/03/21: Purchase enquiries satisfied, Title Report & contracts issued, contracts signed & returned
11/05/21: Still waiting on final enquiry in the adjoining chain to be resolved. Consent to break the chain granted, instruction to move to exchange given.
17/05/21: All parties agreed to June 3rd for completion
27/05/21: Exchanged on my sale only
    28/05/21: ALL EXCHANGED!
    03/06/21: Completion

We initially were about to use Strike after seeing excellent reviews but I think it really can depend on the quality of the local Strike agent and your level of confidence in your own selling/negotiating style.

The one who came to see us was based about an hours drive away, didn't follow any Covid protocols, didn't have a clue about the local area, spent the entire time selling us the picture package and valued the house way under other valuations.

They sent over a mock brochure/listing and it was just completely wrong so we lost confidence and went with a local agent who sold the property in 36 hours.

But to counter my point, a friend sold his through Strike down in Leeds and said the agent was fantastic and really knew her stuff.

  • Interesting to read some differing viewpoints on Strike. We have them and another 2 EA's coming to value our property next week. Although I have read a number of reviews online it is always reassuring to read them on MSE. Certainly some food for thought.

Do not use them, we used them and they are shockingly bad.  Terrible communication and very slow to act.

It took us 5 weeks to get our memo of sale and that was after I put a complaint in.

They have a lot of work on and not enough staff to cope with it all.

They have no motivation and don’t care if your house sale completes or not as they don’t get a fee.

They just wanna sell extras at the start of the process. Ie solicitors, surveys etc

    beware!!!!

Yes their sales tactics are rather interesting too, from my experience they prefer you to go with an offer from someone who is not on the market and then they pressure sell themselves to them.

I don’t think it is realistic to compare their service to a full service estate agent, costing thousands of pounds.

I’d expect to do my own negotiations, and I don’t really understand why you waited five weeks for the memorandum of sale, rather than writing it out yourself and agreeing it with the buyer?

All I really want from Strike is to put my photos and description on Rightmove, and pass on details of prospective buyers.

I’m inclined to think that a professional photographer would add value, and I might be interested to see if a professional copywriter could do a better description than me.

Have just bought a prpoerty through Strike. Viewing and dealing with the offer was quick and hassle free. Getting a Memo of Sale was a pain; my wife is disabled and doesn't have a driving licence or passport. It appaers that some of their staff have no idea re the Equality Act 2010 and their legal duty to make reasonable adjustments. I've just spent two days chasing them, being promised call backs that didn't happen, before finally getting the document emailed. As others have said they seem more interested in selling you other services eg legal surveys and moving.

What is in the memo of sale that you and the buyer/seller can't draw up between you in 5 minutes?  I'm really puzzled by this.

The ones I have seen just list the names and addresses of buyer/seller, plus their lawyers, plus address and price of the property being sold. What am I missing?
