Then there are the mystery advisories that are there one year and gone the next. I had an Audi with a whole list of "rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement" one year. I didnt replace and kept the car for another 5 years and never saw those advisories ever again.
I guess it depends on the tester and what they see or dont see.0 -
Maybe buyers look but their is a significant shift to online buying . many travelling long distances for the actual purchase .

It's the ones that have cars listed for sale with "full fresh MOT when sold" but when you look up the MOT history it failed a month beforehand for all sorts of stuff plus a list of advisories for corrosion.
All that will disappear when they get the MOT done but I doubt half of it will have been repaired.0 -
It intrigues me that so many dealers cover up the number plate. I just think 'dishonest dealer' and move on. Why do they need to cover the number plate? Surely those dealers are missing out on loads of sales?0

Ectophile said:Just assume that the MOT will have no advisories, as LeeUK says. The last car I bought had 4 worn tyres, one of which was a gnat's whisker from being illegally bald. The MOT had no advisories.0

Surely those dealers are missing out on loads of sales? They claim it is because people too lazy to do their homework note down the registration then wait until it is sold and appears online with tax & insurance, then put a copy of that number plate on their identical car, thus saving ££££s with very little risk if they abide by traffic regulations.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

So how does someone else cloning the number plate affect the car dealers?0
