Can you change numbers at any time on a new contract?

After always being PAYG I took a contract.  Had the new phone + SIM for a month or so without using yet as I've had some credit to use up.

Can I use the new SIM with its own number for a while before requesting to swap to my existing number, or should I do that straightaway?  Or have I already left it too late?!

Thanks

Well it probably wasn't a wise idea to start contract payments when you still had PAYG credit to use.  However it was wise to use that up because if it gets transferred you'd have lost it all anyway.

If this is a different network get a PAC code and use in the normal way.

Thanks, so there's no time limit on porting your old number across?

Not that I'm aware of (PAC codes once requested expire after 30 days) but beyond that you may want to check with the winning provider just to make sure.
