You actually have the means to analyse your enegy consumption but you've chosen to shove it into a cupboard because it depressed you. The IHD will show you what you are using and when you are using it which then gives you the opportunity to turn stuff off and see how it affects your consumption.

TBH if you wake up in the morning and it's showing that you've used a lot of energy overnight then thats a really good place to start. Most people turn most of their stuff off when they go to bed, so apart from the fridge, freezer, router and perhaps the SKY box then you shouldn't be using a great deal.If you are using much more than say 250watts of leccy between bedtime and getting up then go and find out whats using it all. Are the kids sitting up all night on Playstations, TVs, etc. Anyone craftily using a fan heater, hairdryer etc and as said, take out the fuse that feeds your underfloor heating as it's probably the biggest cause of you gas/leccy consumption imbalance..

An average household would be around 12,000kwh of gas and about 3500kwh of leccy, so your gas consumption looks low and you leccy looks high so it suggest that you are using leccy when you should be usig gas for some of your heating.gas costs around 3p/kwh and leccy about 15p - you do the sums

When you know what you are using, what is using it and when, then you can do summat about it.

    Thank you all,

I've plugged in the IHD now and will do exactly as suggested.

Definitely no oil, not electric showers, no all night raving by the children and nothing else fancy or glaringly obvious.  No rads in the places where we have underfloor heating.

    I will investigate!

is your underfloor heating wet underfloor heating (with pipes) or electric underfloor heating? The latter is expensive!!

Electric.  Not used all day though and never used in Spring/Summer.

Is the immersion heater on 24/7?

Electric underfloor heating is insane. Set the IHD to live Watts consumption and switch the heating on - then cry!!

At night, consumption should drop well below 100W. What's yours?

It can be that low but people shouldn't worry if they are not down to that level.
Ours is typically at least twice that, but we have 2 fridge freezers, 6 wifi mesh hubs, 2 Sky boxes/TV on stand-by and numerous iPhone/iPads recharging.
Nothing there that I'd want to be switched off and 100W is never going to happen here...

We don't have an immersion heater.

I will test the Wattage overnight tonight, thank you. Currently it says "used today 18.54kWh for both G&E.

We've turned off the elec underfloor heating at the mains in case it was doing something even though the thermostat was not set at all to kick in.

Just set it to show the electricity only (if it is the one I think it is just tap the lighting bolt symbol)

Nothing to worry about there then, we have a similar sized household from the sound of things and we are comfortable at around 12-14kWh a day at this time of year.
It varies depending on washer/dryer usage, how much cooking we did (electric) etc.
I'd get used to leaving the IHD showing the 'now' usage so you can spot high usage as it happens and figure out what is causing it.
