If you want to know about clinical trials and the pharmaceutical world, then I'm your man. If you want to know about building, house renovation and that kind of stuff, then it's probably best to ignore anything I say (unless I am repeating the advice Doozer gave me....then listen)

Edit: blimey, there's a conversation about me 😬I'm much nicer in real life! It's easy to just spurt out information/opinion here. When I had a proper job, my boss did say that I took no prisoners, but I think I've changed since then. I've always been able to drop anything for a party.I've also learned an awful lot from people here, it's been a long time! We used to put injected damp proof courses into our houses 😲😂
Thank you for being kind. ☺️Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Oh, no - what have I just done? Started a list pulled from t'top of t'ead in the certain knowledge I'll have missed out many deserving folks :-(2 -

I HAVE had financial trouble in the past and I turned to StepChange. They were absolutely fabulous. If your parents are in financial dire straits they could do worse than contact them. https://www.stepchange.org/
No obligation, no judgement, just plain straightforward advice.
Nobody should be living on a knife edge financially. I was, and now I'm not. I prefer the latter.

Lbuk said:Hi, I’m asking on behalf of my parents who live in an end of terrace.
In short. They made some really poor loan choices and are skint. Utterly. Completely. Skint. They have always worked full time and are just making ends meet. No car, only a budget weekend away per year, supporting my sister.
All that they have is the house and it’s in poor shape. They try…
So after 40 years they’ve got some new neighbours who seem to have bought with the intention to change but not pay.
They want the roof and gutters cleaning because water is dripping on their garage door.
They have a leak in the garage ceiling and asking about the condition of my parents plumbing.
There is a row of overgrown trees straddling the boundary - which my mum did trim recently but with a chainsaw herself because she can’t afford labour!
She’s worried sick that she is going to have to pay out all this money to contribute.
Even an increase in their home insurance (assuming they have any) would cripple them.
Any knowledge or advice?
Could you talk to your parents' new neighbours and see how they feel about trimming the trees?
I know lots of older people who have their neighbours come into their gardens to tidy up joint hedges etc. Assuming that it is something that can be achieved with loppers and doesn't require a tree surgeon?
You could try joining a local FB group, if there are any near you, where people do things for each other for free to help the community.
There are also groups where people gift items for free - everything from buttons and balloons up to fridge freezers, washing machines and beds. That might help them if they need things that they can't afford to buy.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0
