O2 cancellation
Options
Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice?
Last year my contract with O2 came to an end (Sept 20), in plenty of time I called to confirm what needed to be done to arrange for it to end. I was told it was too early to schedule it then but to ring 30 days prior to the cancellation date, I did. Then I continued to be charged after the cancellation date. I called again they said there was no record of either call to cancel. I accepted the charges and they told me I would have to use a PAC code to stop it quicker than the 30 days (I'd already discarded the old sim so also had a new one ordered) went through all the procedures with the PAC code, got a goodbye letter trying to entice me back (as it all seemed cancelled I did bin it unfortunately) and that seemed to be that. This month I got a notification from my credit report, it had dropped. Went on to find that O2 have put that I'm £99 in deficit due to the contract still not being cancelled claiming they have no record of the calls and refuse to discuss anything as they have sold on my 'debt'. Its not a huge amount but it has really damaged my credit report which I really need to be good right now.
I'm waiting for a call back from an O2 manager but I don't have high expectations, can anyone point me in the direction of what to do next. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
I know next time to put things in writing and send them recorded or an email or something, but the hindsight...

Did you port your number to another network by using the PAC, or not..?Evolution, not revolution0

Complain to O2 formally - you want the debt cancelled and your credit file entry removed.
If no satisfactory answer then:

OP once you transfer a number with a pac code and it goes over normally with in 1/2 days your contract will be terminated automatically.
But if you still owed them money by terminating the contract early they will send debt collectors' after you.
You should of texted for your pac code that way you would of received a final bill through the text with the pac code.
Then O2 wouldn't be able to say you never cancelled the contract because you would of had a text to confirm everything.

Just a little update and thanks to those who helped, O2 finally admitted their mistake, cancelled the debt, and restored my credit report. Unfortunately damage was already done, I needed a car on finance during the time going through this mess and could only get it with a really high APR, so gutted their mistake caused such issues and costs.
