Well my plan of eating better is going well, tonight however I’ve had wine with a friend who came over for dinner. We shared a bottle so not terrible and I know that already it’s having the right effect as I feel ‘lighter’… the food that is. Not the wine.I’ve been making a point of trying to walk a lot whilst I await my WHPT appointment who should clear me to do more then, so that’s also helping. The sling arrived today and it’s bloody brilliant!Called Tesco today, my card ends March 24 and I think I have it ending on my cash flow file as November 23 so since it’s 0% I can probably reduce the overpayment on that.Tried to call Halifax but no luck. Also need to call virgin. Old credit card with nothing on it yet despite that, when my bank informed them I’d be moving my DD, they’ve taken a payment! 😲
Bank balance has sat at a big fat zero for a few days now, which I’m fine with since all bills are paid etc. Just waiting for the CT rebate and the banks switch reward! Also car update is next Thursday. Finally!! Now to clear my car out so they can take it away! GulpFollow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

I've had 85p in the current account for a few days now, I check every day to make sure nothing unexpected comes out, so far so good.
Great to hear you like the sling, it's a big investment so it needs to be just right. Well done on the eating too, I might go back to MFP to log all my snacks, maybe that will put me off at least some of them 🙈
Fingers crossed the rebate and reward land soon!01.12.2020 - CC £16,839 / Loan £18,820 / EF £0

I’ve used MFP for about 15 years now and enjoy that it gives me the option to scan stuff. That doesn’t however work so well when making from absolute scratch!I’ve read on here that people use eBay to but DW tablets. And often use half. If you do this (anyone reading!) can you share the wisdom? I’m about to buy from Tesco (100 for £9) but want to know if I can source cheaper!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Do you have a lidl or aldi nearby? I buy the lidl ones and they do the job just fine, I have also recently started running a shorter cycle and it didn't make a difference. Never tried halving the tablets but now you mention it...01.12.2020 - CC £16,839 / Loan £18,820 / EF £0

I use Morries Savers DW tabs 40 for £2 and they work fine. 5p each vs Tesco at 9p each. I add DW salt as the water is hard and rarely top up the rinse aid. Often do the half time wash or just run it overnight (dual tariff meter) on EcoSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Morrisons ones seem cheap, I’ll check out the Lidl/ Aldi ones too!! Thanks!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Happy Friday!Managed to call Halifax today about the sneaky thing I did with the BT to avoid MT fees, they’ve moved the balance to my savings account (I no longer have a current account with them on account of the switch bonuses being offered) and I can pay to the loan from there.Rewards bonus and CT rebate both paid and swiftly moved to the maternity savings pot. I emptied the remaining pots today and a grand total of £42.80 has been moved to a few pot called holidays! Something I’m keen to save for but can’t really justify it when I have debt to clear. Is that backwards?Changed the file stating when the credit card 0% is ending and since it means I can push the date out to March 24 instead of November 23, I can reduce the payments I’m making by half for the time I’m off on low pay which is helpful!Budget rejig done this morning however it needs tweaking again, I fear there are too many pots. Also hubs car insurance is due which means I need to get on the computer and see what cash back etc is available and remember all the crappy details about previous incidents etc! Ugh!Huge food shop done today for July, shopped around to a degree although without much organisation when it came to seeing that Aldi had a new plant based range (and lots of choice too!) but I think except fresh fruit and veg, we are now stocked up! It’s a good job since I think I spent about 40% of the budget but purchased take away Friday type things which should mean we don’t exhaust the budget in 2 weeks like last month!Still to put it all away mind, better dash!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Cashed out £5 on prolific and when I went went to check cash back on TCB for car insurance, I noticed I had £32 payable. The £37 has been withdrawn as well as £8 off from vinted and will go into the holiday pot. The holiday fund will be established and I’ll not feel guilty about it either. We haven’t had a holiday for a long time so it would be nice, and won’t even be until next year anyway more than likely! We had leftover budget from the event we wanted to go to yesterday which have been put in there too. To offset the guilt, I’ve increased the mortgage payment by £30 a month which will mean we OP on the mortgage by £360 a year (better than nothing) and hubs car insurance is down by £150 a year. It’s about bloody time too.Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Holiday pot is a good thing to have! I've finally got one and I've decided to keep it as a rolling pot - keep paying into it rather than cap it. For me that means we are never far from a holiday but I know I'm preparing and able to pay for it. Whispers quietly that in the past I've often paid for entire holiday including spending money on my credit card 🤦♀️3

I have absolutely done the same but glad we’re able to do things differently now. It does feel quite luxury to be saving towards a holiday, during a time where every penny counts but actually just because we do have debt we’re not struggling, I’m just keen to repay it.Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay
