Good morning and what a lovely morning it is.I’ve already taken to laying down this morning as I’m very uncomfortable already
I have coffee though so all isn’t lost.
Loan is updated and I’m surprised at how much more I’m motivated I feel to look at 2 smaller numbers (1 on the loan and 1 on the new card) than 1 larger number over all even though they’re the same! Also the loan balance is £12090 and now I’m wishing I’d used the surplus from April’s budget to pay against the loan as the fact it’s not in the 11s is annoying! Alas, it’s motivated me to find another £91 to get it below £12k so that’s my challenge this week. Granted it will probably be a case of taking from somewhere else (or multiple places) or getting rid of some more stuff, something I’ve got much better at doing recently, so let’s see!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Sorry to hear that you’re feeling uncomfortable already. It’ll all be worth it in the end though.I think we are going to become debt free at around the same time, it’s around summer 2024 for us I think. And the numbers coming down is such a good feeling.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k3

When it rains it pours! After a(nother) bout of food poisoning here this weekend, I genuinely thought the baby was making an early appearance, and having recovered ive now got a horrible cold. Seems my immune system is struggling a bit at the moment!Car service came in at a whopping £625! So there as absolutely not enough to cover that in the pot, but 2 damaged tyres (after the other 2 were just replaced), new brake pads and risks all round so it seems it should be fit for a while now. The surplus will have to come from the baby savings pot for the time being and we will make it back later on down the line! It’s very annoying but also fortunately we have money put to one side else where!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

I’ve realised today, I love seeing a full fridge and freezer but it’s just not needed at all. It always looks great, I love the choice and variety we have the opportunity to eat, largely because we can cook but also because we enjoy it; however there doesn’t need to be a full fridge to make this happen. I don’t waste much but still more than I’d like and I love having good ingredients in the house to be able to make something nice, it really makes me happy. But not at the expense of our pockets or for it to just go in the bin.I wonder if the size of the fridge/freezer plays a part in this, if I’m a little demotivated right now with having had a lot on recently, or if it’s something a bit more deep set than that which has caused the desire to want to always have an abundance of food. I’m not sure but those are my thoughts for the day! Sorry to bore those that read along!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Ouch to being uncomfortable and to the cost of the car repairs.
I understand your feelings about the full fridge and freezer. At the height of my speediness I not only loved having a fully, neatly arranged fridge I also wanted it to be full of neatly arranged branded goods. When my children were teenagers they never agreed on the same thing - one wanted apple juice (Copella) and one wanted orange juice (Tropicana) one liked fromage frais and the other yoghurt, one wanted crunchy nut, the other cheerios - and so on and so on. I pandered to this on the basis that it made me somehow feel like a good mum giving them "good" food. No wonder I racked up plenty of debt!
even now I enjoy unloading a big shop and seeing all my food. Until recently I also shopped once a week on a specific day and changing to irregular, when needed shopping still gives me a bit of a wobble but it's certainly helping my purse's wellbeing.

I did type a reply to you @Blackcats but lost is and was sulking to have to do it again! But I basically said, I remember as a child my mum would do a monthly shop at Netto and spend £250 ish. We would have everything, in that first week, there would be sweets, biscuits, all the flavour of crisps, whatever we wanted. I wonder if having that ‘choice’ is such a nostalgic thing to me.I also love unloading a massive big shop, but more so when it’s yellow sticker! It’s never stuff I’d planned but I do get the same thrill from it.Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

It was my birthday this weekend and I’ve had a rough cold all week, that I’ve not been able to shift. Then come Friday, my sinuses were giving me so much trouble I haven’t been able to bend forward or stand up without SUCH pain in my forehead, cheeks and eye sockets so I’ll need to call the GP tomorrow as I think I now have sinitus! Sorry to sound like a winge but I just can’t catch a break; and with less than a fortnight to go, I’d really love one!! Especially as I’d have liked to enjoy my birthday; instead I lay down for the most part!Anyway. Reshuffled money for maternity later this year on account of the car making a rather large dent in the pot, which does mean we might need to take things back a touch but it’s a few months away yet so let’s see what happens. Worse case is we won’t be DF as soon as id like but I can probably cope with that. I’m sure a few months down the line and everything will change anyway so staying open minded and positive.Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Sending you best wishes for your birthday. I hope you get your health sorted quickly so you can be on tip top form for the new baby.I think that the ability to shuffle and re-shuffle is positive and being adaptive to changing circumstances is a sign that you are in control of your budgeting.4
