Today we had lunch at a friends which was lovely and unexpected and she’s a friend who also enjoys talking about the cost of thing, how to be more frugal etc and felt like I was in good company. The visit and watching Saturday kitchen this morning (a few weeks ago episode on account of we’re never really caught up with having my daughter!) where they did a few extra things with potatoes (rostis i think!) made me start a note in my phone of all the things I could do with potatoes. We always have mash. And I know others will have ideas too, but well, rostis and gnocchi are now on the list as I love both of these and they’re totally different to just ‘mashing’ spudsFollow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

I forgot to post the things I do which I think are frugal but today we collected parsley and chocolate pots from olio which from the listings it’s all I wanted last night but it was too late. Thankfully they were still there today so I’m glad I checked. That’s dessert sorted (for a few days, there were more than a couple!) and also parsley which I needed for dinner tonight.I’ll also freeze the rest and also start some off in water to grow myself.I also reverse shopped today, looked at what we had in, for the rough guide meal we wanted and mixed it up enough just spend a v small amount for what was required.Gaviscon bumped the cost of the shop up however I’m suffering so badly today that it was absolutely the right call to get them!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

This tartiflette recipe is a good old standby. I add things like sweet potato or butternut squash and pre-roast them and then just stir them in - you could add/substitute leeks or fennel if your olio supplies offered these, for a bit of variety. My personal favourite is boulangere potatoes (cooked slices in stock) and that website has a version with thyme and garlicSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Also Normandy potatoes, which I first made in my teens in about 1979! Good use of any potatoes & milk which need using up & make a filling accompaniment to various things. I've also sometimes added chopped bacon, herbs & very finely chopped onion when layering it up to make it into a main meal.

Hi MissRikkiC, just delurking to see if you know about the cheaper version of Gaviscon - Peptac? It’s the liquid variety rather than tablets but it’s soooo much cheaper and also comes in aniseed or peppermint flavour. It’s really the same thing without all the branding!I know some people can’t stomach the liquid but it was a lifesaver in my last pregnancy. Funnily enough I never needed it first time round.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Those turnips I had recently in the TGTG bag were made into a Tartiflette @Suffolk_lass it needs adding to list along with (only 2021 discovery of) Boulanger potatoes!@foxgloves but it sounds lovely. Especially with the bacon for extra flavour. No I haven’t heard of those @s@sashybo and wish I’d read your comment earlier as I’ve spent another £4 on gaviscon tonight. I’ll now find these alternatives and swig (and grimace if I have to) the bottled stuff as it seems I can’t eat or drink anything without it flaring up! Thank you xFollow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

The joys of being pregnant! My friend's daughter gets gestational diabetes and I damaged my respiratory tract with coughing because the only anti-biotics I could take would have turned the baby's teeth yellow, so residual infection-triggered asthma!
It's meant to be such a joyful time. I hope you enjoying yours!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

You’re welcome, it was a friend of mine who told me about it when I was suffering. I couldn’t believe the price difference.Suffolk_lass I also had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy! Along with the horrendous reflux and my son being a stroppy toddler, it was great fun. 🤣Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Oh yes it’s wonderful @Suffolk_lass for the most part. That said, my tailbone has moved (same happened with my first) and so as of today, the dr has signed me off for 2 weeks in the hope I can have some relief from sitting for work (so so uncomfortable) and finish my last couple of weeks after as best as possible! So coccyxdynia and awful heartburn have meant at times it’s been more difficult!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Have you thought of trying a chiropractor MissRikkiC? They can still adjust you when pregnant, it really helped me as my pelvis was so misaligned both during and after pregnancy both times.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
