EE ‘need’ to move me to a new plan
I’ve recently received the text below from EE, I’ve been on my plan since 2017 when It started as a 12 month sim only contract. I’m paying £3.33 a month thanks to various stacked discounts on my account. I’ve never heard of phone companies kicking people off rolling contracts before and just wondered if anyone has any advice on the matter. I know I’ve been paying under the odds for a significant amount of time (unlimited minutes & texts with 18gb of data) but wanted to make sure what they’re doing here is above board, especially as my bill will be increasing by 5x.
Hi Daniel. We've freshened up our SIM plans and we need to move you to a new one. We've put together all your options at (link) Or, if you do nothing, we'll automatically move you to a new 30-day rolling SIM plan with 40GB, unlimited mins and texts for £19 a month on 20 July. Your current price and benefits will change if we move you onto this and your plan and some other charges will increase annually on or after 31 March each year in line with CPI+ 3.9%. For full details go to (link) If you're not happy with these changes, you can choose to leave EE - though we really hope you'll stay.

yes they can do this as long as you are out of contract. It is effectively a price increase, albeit a large one !
you can choose to go with the plan they suggest, or another EE plan, or move provider0 -
Yes they can its just happened to me on Three.
i have ended up paying an extra £5mth which is still good being i get unlimited everything, i was paying £11 and now £16 and i was on that contract for just over a year, so you done very well to get away with it all them years.
Has pbarlett said you can always move to a different network or just try and haggle with them for the best price.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
I have got a similar message from EE. I was on £5.53 a month for unlimited calls and texts and 500Mbyte data a month. I only needed more when I had a wifi problem or on holiday. The new one they offered is £6pm with 3 Gbyte data which didn't seem too bad.I got the previous one after asking about changing and they matched what I was looking at - thanks to this forum.0

They can do whatever they like, apparently. But also, so can you! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
