Don't forget that you will need to change BOTH brake discs & BOTH sets of brake pads.

sure, my local supplier selling Apec for £230 include 4 discs and 4 pads. and cheaper one are £190. so plus labour, might be £120?

Both sides at each end... Left-front, right-front. Absolutely.

But if the rears are good and the fronts knackered, you do not need to do both ENDS at the same time.

No, I mean IF the rears are OK, they don't have to be replaced just because the fronts are.

But if the left is good and the right isn't, both should be - and you should investigate why they aren't wearing evenly...

They can be. If you know what you're doing, and what you're looking at.

You don't simply have worn-out pads and discs. You have discs that show the inner pads simply aren't doing much. Why? How do you resolve it?

Depends on how long it takes to sort out the reason your pads are worn unevenly. That might require new calipers.

I can do disks and pads on both sides of one axle including cleaning the caliper slide pins in around an hour on the driveway.

However if you then find the caliper is seized or the caliper seals are dead you need to put the tools away, go to the parts store for a caliper or wait 3 days for new seals to arrive. Get the tools back out strip off the caliper and rebuild it say an hour per side. Fit the new caliper and then refit the disks and pads.

If you are lucky an hour long job but your car could be off the road a week. How lucky are you feeling.

As a side point anyone else finding the new look forum hard on the eyes on a mobile.
