All I can add is that,  in well over 20 years of submitting self assessments on the modest profit I make from 2 little BTLs, HMRC have never bothered to ask for any detail, let alone audit my returns. In fact, a few years ago they suggested I stop submitting  them and just pay an averaged tax bill around agrand or two a year. I refused as I prefer the reassurance of accuracy.

Although I assure you that I would be able to provide meticulous accounts in the infinitesimally slim likelihood that they redirect their enforcement activities from real chancers and tax evaders, and start chasing small fry like me for a few quid?
