The 7 year old is on the cusp of having more weight applied to being heard in regard to how much contact she wants with dad, it’s affecting the 5 year old also psychologically as she witnessing it.

Things to consider here is that if mum keeps sending children and placing them in the situation of psychological and verbal abuse then the actions of mum become difficult to defend if it ever got to court stages if she stopped contact.

Mum has every right to stop contact dead if she believes the children are risk of harm mentally or physically or both. It may not be what the children want because they may love dad unconditionally, but at this age they don’t know what is good for their well-being mentally and the long term effects going forward.

To me if he is controlling, Coercive and mentally abusive as an addict or recovering addict then having his partner as a supervisor would be a no no, and I would certainly be looking at friend not his partner, no doubt his partner would be silenced in speaking out against his behaviours or be afraid to.

A contact centre maybe the best way forward, perhaps splitting the costs, if he is still an addict and he turns up under the influence and causes a scene because he’s not allowed in police and social services maybe contacted.

From your information, if it were me contact would be reduced to meeting in a park with my supervision or that of someone I would trust once a week for 2 hours, no over nights and no unsupervised for the foreseeable future.  He would be welcome to go through family court for alterations.
