Agreed ... it is very annoying. Are MSE losing so many active members due to the forum layout etc. that they think making it more difficult to go to another site will keep people here? Are they seriously that stupid? The reality is that it will have the opposite effect ... more people will leave. 🙄

Totally agree, this is so annoying and a complete PITA. Yes I know I'm leaving MSE because I clicked on the link, I don't need to have it confirmed. If you want to be helpful then have the facility to open a new browser tab with the page you're opening up.

Please can MSE sort this out.  I have come from Competitions Time where literally every post involves clicking through to another site.  I don't want to have to confirm I'm leaving the MSE page every single time, it doesn't sound much but it's doubling the effort and time needed!

I was worried this was just me...it's awful!  And I don't understand the point?  You can just hover over a link to make sure it's legit, but we're talking about competitions being posted by trusted members, etc.

If it's some sort of safety feature, then it's coming at the cost of me wanting to even use the site.

I'm sure it used to be like this, click a link and it would open a new tab, but it changed ages ago, way before the layout changes.

Now I just hold CTRL as I click the link which forces a new tab, but it is a (slight) annoyance.

If you're using a mouse, you can also click the link with the scroll wheel's button to open the link in a new tab.

I don't see what the issue is....

...just kidding - yea it is a pain in the backside for sure.  Not enough to make me want to leave, but it's just an additional unneeded inconvenience.

Yes, this is a PITA. Some of us having been using the web since the last millennium, we understand the concept of hyperlinks taking us to another website without having to brace ourselves first.
