Did the same, water turned into plant poo smelling water so I think the cuttings I took were too young. I'll go back next week or the week after and get some hard wood cuttings and try that.

I suspect that Farway cut his twigs in the spring? And that's why they grew. Cuttings taken now wouldn't root.

Yes, taken in spring, March time,  when I was pruning and decided to give it a try and not waste potential cuttings

Looking at your methods of growing is really interesting Farway. Real success so I'm thinking of changing my methods.
Eating fig & honey chutney from the supermarket and dreaming of pan de higio I'm really keen to try growing figs now.
I turned down a house with 2 figs now regretting it
Congrats on the achievement of free figs  :)
Right now Morries have them, only young Brown Turkey but at £2.29 a steal.
You'll probably be eating figs in 2025 given a fair wind

Not our morrisons sadly. They seem to have abandoned their plant tunnel as pathetic display only.
High endish gardening dining stuff that no one wants in hard times.
