I tried pruning this year using a You Tube method, but it failed to produce fruit, maybe it works fine In Oregon or somewhere but not Hampshire. I do have fruit coming but they will never ripen now, lesson is not everything on YT works, some you win, some you don't
With advice from the USA, it's best to check which hardiness zone they are in to see if it's compatible with our climate.
I did, still failed though, in fact their climate was worse but maybe some variations I'm unaware of, drier perhaps?
But given our mixed weather this season it's hard to come to a firm conclusion, for instance nil pears and very few plums for me this year

Another update, it looks like they will fruit this year, if so that will be two years from cutting to eating, amazing

I have only kept two and moved into larger pots. One I'm attempting to grow as a standard, the other I'll wait & see

Here is my "standard" and a bit wonky one. The embryo fruit can be seen. The lower image is a close up of the same fruit

That’s doing well, no sign of figs on my established plant as the frost seems to have killed off everything over wintering. Hopefully new growth will produce some figs this year.

Same here. My embryo fruit looked frost damaged and withered. Last year they were green and firm. There is some new growth though but doubt I will have any figs this year.
Thanks for the helpful tips on this thread. I inherited a fig tree in the garden when I moved house. I need to master the pruning but have avoided so far in case I end up killing it.

    An update, August 2023.
The two plants I kept have now fruited, one fig on each
    Still in pots
Here is one with its fig, ripe & ready, just a reminder, these were started from cuttings taken around April 2021

I followed your tactic, somewhat later, so I'm a season behind. I think I now have nascent figs.

Shared two ripe ones at one of our volunteer orchard earlier in the week. Only Brown Turkey but lovely. There are more to follow if the wasps don't get them.

Be great with some goats cheese, crushed walnuts, rocket and a balsamic reduction. Just had that as a starter with some of my figs, a real treat.

Looking at your methods of growing is really interesting Farway. Real success so I'm thinking of changing my methods.
Eating fig & honey chutney from the supermarket and dreaming of pan de higio I'm really keen to try growing figs now.
I turned down a house with 2 figs now regretting it
Congrats on the achievement of free figs  :)

Took three cuttings earlier last month and shoved them in to a pot of water. After a couple of weeks, had three very dead sticks in a pot of water. Ho Hum...
At least the donor tree had fruit on it - Picked a couple this evening and had them with ice cream and a glass of port.
