I'm looking for some low to the ground flowers, eg, ones that don't have long stalks, to put along a boundary. I've seen some before that were very low to the ground but I can't remember what they were like. Can anyone recommend any? I'm looking to plant them in a straight line so I preferably want ones that don't spread out too much either.

The new ish Flower Carpet roses are low, highly scented and require almost no maintenance.
There is a Ceonothus that is dwarf and grows sideways not up.
Heathers come in all sizes.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Erigeron?
Forget-Me-Not?
Soapwort?
I have all three along low parts of the garden. Soapwort is a new one for me this year and it's prettier than I thought it was going to be. It wants to travel a bit but I just keep cutting of the small stems that I don't want.
Or do you want something evergreen?0 -
Oregano/marjoram will provide ingredients as well as ground cover and flowers

While we're on the subject, does anyone know what the low growing flowers are that are brightly coloured, and look like miniature but much fluffier gerberas?

No, not pinks unfortunately...They grow in a kind of mat, they're single stemmed flowers, the heads are small, colourful and they look quite bushy with a central circlet/floret that's lower than the petals. They're like a daisy on acid but the colours of gerberas...

No worries
No, I can't find photos online because I'm not putitng in the right search terms...I see them sometimes when you get shots of gardens in gardening programmes but maddeningly, they never say, Oh , this is Daisy On Acid...or whatever...
edited bit...I think I may have found them, I redoubled my search efforts narrowing down as I went and this is what I ended up withNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
