Cow & Gate have again increased the price of their formula milk. In some stores, it's as high as £10 for a single tub. I remember few years back the price was around £8 a tub.

What's the reason behind this constant price increase year on year? Surely you can't blame Brexit and covid for everything!

Not wanting to get involved in a political debate here, but there may be tariffs on certain dairy products from the EU, and if this is the case there will almost certainly be additional transport costs as a result of leaving the EU, which will have been exacerbated by Covid.

If produced fully in the UK, there may now be shortages of workers due to leaving the EU, or issues with production supplies caused by Covid which has led to the introduction of expensive agency workers who have had to be trained.

There may also be a manufacturers wish for an increased profit margin and cost increases as a result of this, or perhaps supermarkets have pushed the price up (independently, of course) to increase their own margins.

It could be one of many issues above, something different, or a potential combination of the above that has led to this situation occuring.
