Thanks again for the comments, it is not the house that is mentioned in this thread, think more of something similar to this house.

I don’t want to give any specifics as am still unsure what to do.
When my son comes home from school I will tell him and get his opinion as if I try to hide it and he finds out from someone else….not an option.
If my son has a “whatever” attitude then problem solved, if he does not then I will give him a few days to think about it and if he still does not want to live there then will pull out. I am not going to force him to live somewhere he is not 100% happy and comfortable. Shame because apart from that it is a lovely house.
  • I’d have the same concerns are you tbh - it does depend on the notoriety. As much as you say it’s well known, to me it would depend whether it’s likely to attract crowds or impact my future sale if I were to move.
children can be cruel so if it’s not the murder house, it could be something else as you’re not local - hopefully it won’t bother your son. My daughter would probably tell people uneshamedly as that’s what she’s like! Good luck with whatever you decide.

How long before they get out? Murderers often like to revisit the scene of their crimes.

The murderer was still at the scene when police arrived, he tried to attack the police with a knife and he was shot by them and died at the scene.

Double murder then. At least they won't be coming back.

Ultimately, unless a house where a crime has been committed is automatically demolished (West, Philpott), somebody's going to be living there in the future...

    If not you, then...

So his ghost might still haunt those gables, baying through the murky vastness of the night in a dark hyperbola of rage?
Even worse the ghost of the victim and the ghost of the murderer will be sharing the same space. Surely a recipe for restless spirits.

We bought a flat in a converted asylum which housed 6,000 patients at its peak. Never bothered us. However it did become a 'destination' for ghost hunters. Every weekend we used to get tour groups going around.

Dark tourism is quite big business, and if it is as notorious as you say, you may well end up in a similar situation.

Might be locally notorious but damned if I can find it online, based on the information on this thread
