Cooker extractor hood not fit for purpose - what's the best resolution?

What you see coming out of your pans is not steam, which is invisible), but water vapour. Steam quickly condenses in the air, and any of this hitting the extractor will be vented outside. Being too close to the hob means that same steam will condense on the metal grill not in the air and will stay there until enough condenses and gravity takes over.
The tall cupboard needs replacing with a shorter one (or get rid and go for a chimney hood) and that horrible flexible ducting replaced with solid plastic duct. You may still get some condensation on the sides of the surrounding cupboards.0 -
