Example:The router as supplied has firmware (version 1.1.0) that does not work with PlusNet ADSL (though I was told that VDSL should work). After several hours of investigation with PlusNet technical support and TP-Link technical support, TP-Link said that this was a known problem with this version of the firmware. They supplied a beta version that works just fine. I imagine that an official update will follow.
So if we don't know the provider, we won't see the pitfalls until you try to use it. So give full information, rather than trying to manipulate the conversation.
You could still discourage talk of switching, which you've had to do anyway.
In addition, do you have a budget in mind? Do you want both 2.4GHz & 5GHz? Would you like the option of a Guest network? Do you need a long range? For example, do you use your devices out in the garden or do you have a large house?
Of course one can just recommend the cheapest; but that might not best suit your usage.0 -
But why wont you tell us who your ISP so as we can point in the direction of correct router .I understand you would rather pay £40 pm than £15 pm for an ISP that has reasonable support ant tech advice ( apart from replacing routers that is ) and i am not giving advice on swapping ISP .Routers .Asus RT-AX86UTP-Link Archer AX50Netgear Nighthawk

I went back to my provider again today, after rereading this thread & taking debitcardmayhem’s earlier advice this time. Told them I was going to switch due to cheaper deals around and my failing router. They have agreed to replace the router. My thanks for all those that made positive contributions1

May I ask how much you are paying at the moment?
ISP usually charge you a lot more if you are out of contract.0 -
New router may have started a new contract .
