OP, what is your objection to soap bars?Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)2 -
They also work in drawers / airing cupboards to slightly scent the contents - this is what I use them for. Just leave them in their wrapping or cut and re-wrap in brown paper or similar.
Personally I dislike solid soap bars for washing purposes, wet, slippery, they go mushy...0 -
I keep my soap bar in a dish with drainage so no mushy soap for me. Between the air and drainage it dries.
Bar soap is much better for the environment than plastic bottles of liquid soap.3 -

Fair enough, our bathroom is small so it's possible while showering to reach out for the soap, which is kept on the shelf above the sink.0

Sorry.
No wonder we have a climate crisis.
Suggestions like other uses - only one person has suggested grating it and using it with laundry. Another two for scenting in wardrobes.
Me not using the soap is hardly a climate crisis!
I am environmental in other ways but surely their impact (IE, someone not buying a plastic bottled shower gel) would be completely wasted by someone driving over to pick them up or me driving to a supermarket to put them in the charity trolley, where they may not get used anyway as they're not a brand per se.
It is a sorry state of affairs but sometimes, it really isn't worth the effort putting in.0 -
Please ignore the sarcastic ones, they can't help themselves sometimes and it's always worth the effort for your own peace of mind otherwise you wouldn't have asked the question.
I put stuff for the charity shop, recycle bins etc in the boot of my car and then when I'm passing drop them off (some will no doubt say I'm lucky to have room to store it in the boot of my car, yes, I am).

Hi
I just joined so I could comment on this thread 😁
1. freecycle … yes someone else will want it and fetch it from your house. I use no name brand soap in my house (about 25p per bar) and I would love to fetch yours. This is a money saving website.
2. a bar under your sheet (on your bed) is supposed to stop restless leg syndrome, it has worked in my house
3. as mentioned already, in cupboards, drawers, under beds etc. To deter moths. I store bars with my knitting yarn and fabric too- although make sure it doesn’t stain
4. put a bar into a leg of a tight(stockings) or even the orange plastic net that fruit comes in, tie it on your outside garden tap- that way you can wash your hands after you have been working in the garden - and the soap can drip dry.
5. Grate and slowly melt with water to make your own liquid hand soap (google the recipe)
these are things I do with soap - as well as using it for cleaning
you can also google “what to do with soap bars” and it will give you more ideas. I tried to post a link but the website says I haven’t been here long enough to post links
I would suggest that you mention to the people who gift it to you (ahead of time) that you have so many soaps and toiletries and you would love a bar of chocolate (insert whatever you want here) instead.
most times we buy toiletries because we don’t know what the person wants snd it seems to be the easiest option.
