What to do with soap

Options
I haven't really used soap bars for years but have many.
Before I just throw them (I don't want to as I feel bad), it's there something I can transform them into for another use?

  • If you grate a soap bar into a bag that you can hang from your car, it can be used as a DIY car air freshener. Or if you do want to make other use of them, cut them into smaller soap bars and use them for when you go on holiday, small and easy to pack.

Based on those, they'll be going in the bin then.

Can you not give them to friends or to a charity shop?

Grate them up and use as the basis of laundry detergent.  Grate them, add water and see if they go to a good consistency to put into an old liquid soap bottle - many work that way, some don't.  Offer on local freeshare social media and someone may want them.

I have unwrapped soap bars in my wardrobes and drawers for socks and so on - with the intention that they help deter clothes moths.

Start using them. They'll last much longer than liquid soap and are more environmentally friendly.
I agree with this one.I'm a great fan of a bar of soap. Comes wrapped in a bit of paper, nowhere near as much wastage as shower gels, no plastic bottles to throw away.

    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
