Ground source heat pump and the existing pipes!

Iam hearing alot these days about Government plans to phase out gas boilers in favour of the new boilers(what ever they call them). We have just completed a 3 years house refurbishment job which cost alot of money, tears and sweat and it included tiling the ground floor twice within 2 years (Cowboy builders messing up first time). My question is ..will the existing gas pipe work work with the new boilers? I will dread to think that we will need to rip out all tiles to change pipes.

Heat pumps (ground or air) are electric so no gas pipes involved. There is talk of using hydrogen to replace or partially replace gas in boilers and that may need some changes to pipework. But you're worrying unneccessarily; gas boilers are due to be phased out in new builds by 2025 but it will be a long time before this happens with existing houses. I wouldn't worry.1

Are you talking about the radiator pipes for your gas central heating? If so the pipes will be fine unless they are microbore and I think such pipes are no longer used. But you may need to change the radiators.
Underfloor heating using water would also be fine for use with a heat pump.Reed1 -
